Very cold this morning but the sky looks nice and there are just a few clouds. I thought it might be a prettier sunrise than the last few days but I guess not. Just a little color but still pretty bland.
Wasilla Life

I’ve been thinking that I should show you some scenes from Wasilla, so you can see how we really live here in our community. This photo is taken from Main Street at the intersection of Main Street and the George Parks Highway. If you turn right on the Parks Highway you will be headed to Fairbanks. Turn left and you’re going to Anchorage. If you choose to go straight ahead you will be on the Knik-Goose Bay Road heading kinda south. If you go far enough, about 30 miles, you will be at Port MacKenzie looking across the waters of the Knik Arm towards Anchorage, about a mile distant. My home is a bit more than a mile from where I took this photo.
This Mornings Project

I usually get out of bed pretty early in the morning. Sometimes I’ll make a cup of instant coffee, turn on the TV and surf the channels with the sound muted. I kind of like watching TV with the sound muted. It’s sort of peaceful and relaxing. I think it’s because I’m not forced into listening to people tell me what I should buy, or how I should think…..or what I should worry about.
It drives Becky crazy, though. She likes to have the sound turned on.
Well, anyway, this morning I opted to go out to my studio instead, where I began using my computer to browse through the many photographs I have filed away. Sometimes I get a bit creative when I do this and this morning was no exception.
The above picture is a combination of three of my photographs. Both of the F22 Raptors were photographed last week at Port Mackenzie as they prepared to land at Elmendorf Air Force Base. The sunrise picture was taken from my deck a week or so ago.
I spent about two hours working on this scene, changing it and adjusting it until I thought I was happy with it. I don’t know where this idea came from. I think I saw the sunrise photo first and then I probably thought about the F22 pictures I had, and things just sort of developed from there. A lot of my digital work happens that way. Sometimes I’ll spend nearly an entire day working on something that had never even entered my mind previously.
Oh well, enough of that. If you would like to see a somewhat larger version of this scene click here to view it. The link will take you to Fine Art America where I have many of my images in a gallery.
