There have been some disappointing sunrises recently, and this was one of them. All I could think of was to use a wide angle lens to make it more interesting. I guess that didn’t really work, either.
Oh well, maybe tomorrow morning will be better.
Dalton Makes A Statement
Grand daughter Brittany (age 8) got off the school bus crying yesterday, because some boys on the bus had been teasing and making fun of her.
They’d called her a freckle face, and told her she was fat. They even told her she would never make a good mom.
She was heartbroken.
Well, as she was standing there in tears, telling her story to mom, her three brothers gathered round to listen, very quickly becoming indignant that these other boys had had the nerve to pick on their sister.
“What are their names?” Dakota, (age 13) demanded, “I’m gonna’ go have a serious conversation with them.”
“They’ll never bother you again!” he added.
Byrlan (age 3) told his sister that he’d like to just throw those dumb boys in the “womp“. Byrlan has unique way with words, sometimes. He was speaking of the nearby swamp that the kids sometimes hike to in the summertime.
But it was Dalton (age 6) who managed to finally bring a smile to Brittany’s face.
“Them boys make me mad!” he said. “I’m gonna punch ‘em in the nose….. when I get to be 8 or 9!”
Dalton knew he was too little to do anything, but he figured when he was their age he’d be the right size. Then they’d better watch out!
But Dalton was still mad, really mad, at the way they’d treated his sister, and he wanted to do something about it right now!
This day!
He stood there in the family circle, deep in thought for a few seconds.
“Wait a minute”, he said slowly as he rubbed his chin and a sly, menacing look appeared on his face.
“Was any of them boys five years old, …like me?” he asked.
So let this be a lesson to all of you grade school boys out there in Wasilla.
Don’t ever be mean to the Troseth girls.
‘Cause if you are, you’ll have the Troseth boys to deal with.
All of ‘em.
“A Magical Holiday” At Knik School
Last night was Brittany’s Christmas Concert at Knik School. The auditorium was packed with parents and friends and grand parents. There was standing room only..and very little of that.
The third and fourth grade classes, under the direction of Ms. Davis, sang such holiday classics as Up On The Housetop, Silent Night , Holly Jolly Christmas, and several others.
It was an excellent concert, enjoyed by all who attended.
Singing out some holiday magic
A perfect portrait of a pretty singer
Cookies and brownies for sale before the concert
A pretty spectator with beautiful eyes
And it was magical just listening to them sing
Magical moments can happen anytime…but especially at Christmas
Byrlan pokes his head above the crowd to smile at Grandpa
Brittany, top row in the middle, gives grandpa a smile, too
Perhaps she’ll be a singer herself, some day
Just one of hundreds of pictures taken last night
Watching the show from the aisles was still exciting
Jenny and Destiny between magical songs
Having fun when Ms. Davis isn’t looking
He took over a hundred pictures for his dad
Magical moments weren’t limited to the stage, either
A bit aprehensive perhaps, but he did fine
Singing the magic enthusiastically
There is nothing more magical than being friends
Singing the final number: “We Wish You A Merry Christmas”
