A Quiet Sunday
Becky seems to be feeling a little better this morning, at least she slept better last night. We’ll see how she does at work today.
I slept better last night too, I didn’t really want to get out of bed this morning, but I did.
Although it may not look like it, this is a road grader, or at least the lights of a road grader, as it plows the new snow from Bayview Drive in front of our house. I’ve been experimenting with night photography and long exposures, getting photos such as this. The exposure time here was about 25 seconds.
I pulled the snow blower out of the garage and gassed it up yesterday morning. For the first time in over two months we had new snow on the ground, about five inches. The wind had drifted it into deep mounds in spots, mostly in our driveway, and the road grader had left a large berm across it out by Bayview Drive. As I cleared the driveway a gentle breeze blew the snow back onto me every time I went north. I guess I looked like a snow man by the time I was finished. Becky thought it was funny enough to come out of the house and take a few pictures of me, anyway.
This morning it’s snowing again, already about 4 more inches on the driveway, so it looks like I’ll have yet another opportunity to get that machine out of the garage.
Besides removing snow from our driveway I also clear a path to the front of the house and in front of the deck so I’ll have an easier time taking sunrise pictures for this blog.
Here I am in the driveway, about finished with the job, getting ready to put the machine back in the garage. Blowing snow has coated my glasses, that’s why I’m looking over the top of them like I’m some kind of Grandpa. Oh wait, I am some kind of Grandpa.
I watched the Superbowl in the afternoon on Sunday, while Becky slept in the recliner. Our Superbowl party’s aren’t as rowdy and loud as some people’s. She slept and I sat in an easy chair, slouched down with a blanket pulled over me, occasionally dozing off, too. The phone didn’t even ring. Yes sir, the excitement was nearly too much for me.
Here’s another of my long exposure photos, this one of a neighbors pick-up travelling from left to right. He braked slightly as he approached the corner, the lighter orange is his brake lights and the single, shorter light that is higher than the rest, is the brake light on the back of the cab.
In closing, and because today’s blog seems rather short to me, I’ll include another photo. Taken this morning from my driveway, this shot looks down Bayview Drive in the direction we almost always travel. The pink sky is caused by the lights from Wasilla. Small as it may seem, Wasilla does put out a lot of light.
